Hi I've just signed up and im 16, and want to buy a moped, I have done CBT and Theory test, just practical left! Where I live the road speed limit is high, such as 50mph as I live in the country but go to college in a town, I know for a moped they are restricted to 50cc and top speed of 33mph (if your 16), but if i need to go faster on the roads and it would be safer, i was wondering in theory, if i had a derestricted moped ie can go around 45mph now if i was doing around that and the speed limit was 50, would the ANPR police camera flag me, would it recognize I could only do 33mph or do ANPR and speed cameras only pick up speed over the speed limit?

Sorry for the complicated question!

Hey mate!

My understanding is the ANPR cameras only pick up on things like the vehicle tax, MOT and insurance details and any markers the Police put on the vehicle. It won't be able to pick up what speed you're going :-) Also the speed cameras will not notice that it's a 50cc they only notice things going over the speed limits.

Cheers!
